Before delving into how moon cycles can help us overcome self-doubt, let's have a run down of the different phases of the moon. The lunar cycle consists of eight distinct phases, each carrying its own energy and symbolism:

NEW MOON: The beginning of the cycle, and all about fresh starts. This is the time you want to plant your seeds of intention.

WAXING CRESCENT: Energy building, momentum gaining, and taking inspired action towards your goals.

FIRST QUARTER: Overcoming challenges, making adjustments, and staying focused on your intentions.

WAXING GIBBOUS: Refining your plans, honing your skills, and preparing for manifestation.

FULL MOON: A culmination of energy, heightened intuition, and a powerful time for manifestation and release.

WANING GIBBOUS: Reflecting on lessons learned, releasing what no longer serves you, and gratitude.

LAST QUARTER: Letting go of what no longer aligns with your intentions, clearing space for new opportunities.

WANING CRESCENT: Rest, recharge, and surrendering to the natural cycles of life.

Each phase of the moon offers a different opportunity for growth and transformation, gifting us a reliable framework for self-reflection and empowerment.

Alleviating Self-Doubt with Moon Magic:

Ok, now we have a grasp on the eight phases of the moon’s four week(ish!) cycle, let's look at how aligning with those phases can help alleviate self-doubt and build self-confidence:

  • Setting Intentions: During the New Moon phase, take the time to reflect on what you want to manifest in your life, or simply some small goals you’d liek to achieve in the next four weeks. By setting clear intentions aligned with your values and desires, you cultivate a sense of purpose and direction, reducing feelings of uncertainty and doubt. Under the New Moon, take a cleansing bath with sea salt and lavender oil. Visualise releasing doubts as you soak. Then, write your intentions on a piece of paper, burying it in the earth or placing it under your pillow.

  • Gathering Momentum: As the moon waxes and gains in brightness, harness the energy of the Waxing Crescent and First Quarter phases to take inspired action towards your goals. Break down your aspirations into manageable steps, and celebrate your progress along the way. By embracing momentum, you build confidence in your ability to manifest your dreams. During the Waxing Crescent, charge a crystal with your intentions under the moonlight. Carry it with you as a talisman of empowerment, reminding yourself of your ability to take action.

  • Harnessing Intuition: The Full Moon represents a powerful time of heightened intuition and clarity. Use this time to connect with your inner wisdom and trust in your instincts. Release self-doubt by tapping into the deep well of intuition within you, knowing that you have the answers you seek (Yes, you do!). Harness the Full Moon's energy by practicing moon gazing. Stand under the moonlight, close your eyes, and breathe deeply. Trust your intuition as it guides you towards clarity and self-assurance.

  • Letting Go: Just as the moon wanes in the sky, there are times when we must release what no longer serves us. During the Waning Gibbous and Last Quarter phases, practice letting go of self-limiting beliefs and negative thought patterns. Surrender to the natural cycles of release and renewal, freeing yourself from the burden of self-doubt. Use the Waning Gibbous phase to release self-doubt. Write down your fears on a piece of paper, then burn it safely in a fireproof dish, visualising them dissipating into smoke. Invite the moon to help you let go and embrace new possibilities.

  • Self-Care and Reflection: Finally, honour the Waning Crescent phase as a time for rest, reflection, and self-care. Nurture yourself with activities that replenish your spirit and soothe your soul. Journaling, meditation, and spending time in nature are powerful ways to cultivate self-love and acceptance, banishing self-doubt from your life. Indulge in self-care. Collect moon water, and use it to cleanse your space.
